about us

Hi! We’re Pooja and Varun - new parents, perpetually sleep-deprived, and the kind of people who said “surely there’s an easier way” about a 100 times before we finally did something about it.
When we had our baby, we thought we were prepared. We were not. Suddenly every part of the day needed a different “thing”: tummy time mat, change station, portable change mat, play mat, pram liner, couch protector, bed pad… you get it. Our home started looking like a baby aisle exploded. And the laundry? Don’t even get us started.
In our house we joke that Pooja is the CBO (Chief Baby Officer), making the endless “what do we need now?” purchases, managing nappy-free time and staying on top of the daily mess and clutter. Varun is the CLO (Chief Logistics Officer) - the one dealing with the laundry aftermath of all that real-life chaos.
One night we were both absolutely slammed. Bub was finally down. We were staring at a pile of mats and terry towels waiting to be washed (again). Varun sat next to me, shook his head and said, “I just wish there was one mat we could use all day - something that soaks up all the mess and dries fast. I’m so done with laundry.”
That was the spark.
Because why are we doing this the hard way? Why are we buying more and more stuff, when what we really need is a few essentials that actually earn their spot in our house?
So we built Tazzy Tots around one simple idea: one mat that does it all. From those early newborn days to tummy time, wriggly changes, nappy-free time, pram outings, sensory play, and the toilet training chaos that slowly follows… it’s designed to stay in your daily rotation instead of being another “baby thing” you outgrow.
Tazzy Tots is our love letter to practical parenting: baby-safe, good-looking, and made for real life mess - so you can buy less, wash less, and get more calm back in your day.
If you’re here, you’re in the club. Welcome.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Tazzy Mat made from?
The Tazzy Mat is made from 100% OEKO-TEX® Certfied Cotton. Both top and bottom layers are cotton. In the middle, it has a thin layer of TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) which is a waterproof backing to stop any liquid from soaking through.
How much liquid can the Tazzy Mat hold?
The Tazzy Mat can hold up to 1.5L of liquid. A toddler typically pees about 50-150 mL at one time. Newborns, even lesser.
So this gives sufficient coverage for leakages, blowouts, or while toilet training.
Can the Tazzy Mat be wiped clean?
You can wipe off any solids off the top. For the liquids, since they are abosrbent fabric mats, they're not wipeable like a plastic mat or foam mat. Liquid is meant to soak into them.
However, they are specially engineered with circular hex weave design to dry fast - so a machine wash and hang dry should get them up and running pretty quickly. Within hours.
Are they reversible?
Yes. Unlike other waterproof play and change mats, we use OEKO-TEX® cotton for both top and bottom layers. We wanted anything that touched our bubs to be free from nasties!
The top layer is houndstooth printed and the bottom layer is the same color in absolute. Waterproof core is the middle layer so they're waterproof either way.
Tip: some people (me!) like to use the back side for messy play!
What makes the Tazzy Mats waterproof?
We use TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) as the waterproof layer in our mats.
Unlike traditional plastics like PVC, TPU is non-toxic, free from chemicals like pthalates and highly durable (it can last way longer than other waterproof sheets). TPU can also be recycled or repurposed, helping to lower the overall environmental footprint.
TPU is 100% waterproof so be rest assured of no leaks whatsoever.
How does the fast-drying work on Tazzy Mats? How long does it take?
This is what took us one year to get the fabric engineering right. Our mission was to achieve fast drying technology using natural materials like cotton, unlike other brands that use polyester and microfiber.
We engineered the circular hex weave design technology that gives our cotton mats the natural ability to wick moisture faster and dry faster while retaining it's hypoallergenic and waterproof abilities.
PS: you can spot the little circular hex weaves in the mat if you look closely.
What ages is the Tazzy Mat suitable for?
The Tazzy Mat is suitable for newborns right through until your child doesn't need it any more, usually 5-6 year olds when they are fully toilet trained.
How do I wash the Tazzy Mat?
The Tazzy Mat can be washed normally in a washing machine (cold recommended) and can be line-dried. The mat dries within hours if line-dried. The Mat can also go into the dryer on a low heat.
Can the Tazzy Mat grow mould due to trapped liquid?
Most mats in the market grow mould because they're stuffed with padding or sealed with plastic coatings that trap moisture inside. The Tazzy Mat has no padding or plastic coatings at all. The Tazzy Mat is just 2 breathable cotton layers with a thin TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) barrier sandwiched in the middle. There's nowhere for damp to hide.
To keep it mould-free, all you need to do is:
- Wash after accidents (don't leave it sitting wet for days)
- Make sure it's dry beofre folding or storing
